ACT State Nomination Update

ACT has announced closure of Subclass 190 State Nomination for offshore applicants. It is still possible to apply if you are resident in the ACT, but offshore applicants will need to wait till July 2017.

Also the following occupations are now closed as the quota was reached for this financial year:

  • Human Resource Adviser
  • Recruitment Consultant
  • Workplace Relations Adviser
As the ACT program only reopened on 1 September, this illustrates the importance of being ready ahead of time to apply for Skilled Migration.

Below are some tips that can assist you in being prepared.

Skills Assessment

You would need you skills assessment for most General Skilled Migration Visa applications and for Direct entry ENS visa applications.

Skills assessments can take 3 to 4 months processing time. Usually you would need to gather evidence of qualifications and work experience. In some cases you would also need to sit for an English test or write project reports.

Taking care of your skills assessment ahead of time can make a big difference as you will be ready to take advantage of any state nomination opportunities which arise. Often, these opportunities are not available for long.

Getting it right even more important. Incorrectly lodged assessment could affect your eligibility for your future visa options.

English Language Testing

You will need English result prior to your visa lodgement and in some cases it is required by skills assessment authorities.

Be prepared and start English preparation as soon as possible. It is never too early to book for a preparation classes online or face to face or engage in one on one tutoring.
