Travel Exemption Options for Fiancés
In great news for fiancés of Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents, Border Force has now added Subclass 300 Prospective Marriage visa holders to the list of those who can apply for a Travel Exemption to enter Australia.
In order to be eligible, the following requirements
must be met.
- The subclass 300 visa must have been granted; and
- The subclass 300 visa application was lodged at least 12 months before submitting a travel exemption request.
This means if you applied for a subclass 300 visa on or before 18 August 2020, and you have now been granted this visa; you are eligible for an inwards travel exemption from 18 August 2021.
Exemption applications must be submitted and processed before attempting to board a flight to Australia. Applicants should provide evidence of holding the 300 visa, the application date, and some proof of their relationship.
Border Force advises that most travel exemptions are processed within 7 days of the date of request.
